Growth
Since 1998 Unicom has focused on providing the highest possible levels of service
to its customers. In order to achieve, this Unicom has developed its Manchester head
office to accommodate up to 500 customer service and support personnel.
Unicom has now been officially recognised as the UK's fastest growing telecom
company. In both 2006 and 2007 Unicom appeared in the Sunday Times
Profit Track 100 as one of the UK's 100 fastest growing companies by profit. Unicom also appeared in
the 2007 Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100, and both the 2007 and 2008 Sunday Times Tech Track

In October 2008, following a six month preparation and assessment period, Unicom was awarded
British Standard ISO 9001:2001 certification. In October 2009 Unicom was reassessed against
an updated standard and has been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certification. This certification
has only been achieved by about 5% of UK businesses, is supported by the Government and
is recognised world wide. We have always been proud of the service that we offer to our
customers and the way that we conduct our business.
In October 2009 Unicom was also recognised as meeting the Investors in People standard
by the Investors in People Recognition Panel. This accreditation is an internationally
respected and recognised mark of best practice in the training, developing and deployment
of staff.
Unicom was further recognised in October 2009 for meeting the Customer Service Excellence
standard and the Customer First standard. The Customer Service Excellence standard is a
Government standard only awarded to those companies that tests in great depth the areas
research has shown are a priority for customers, focusing in particular on delivery,
timeliness, information, professionalism and staff attitude. Unicom is the first
telecommunication company to achieve this award.
Customer First is a national standard for customer service and is only awarded to companies
who can demonstrate successful customer relationships, keen market awareness and the ability
to recruit and develop the best staff for the job.
All of these awards are confirmed by outside experts who are used to judging standards on a
daily basis in a wide variety of trades and industries.
In April 2011 Unicom was awarded the Carbon Trust Standard on a physical location
basis at its head office, Universal House, Longley Lane, Manchester, for its commitment
